JAWM seeks sponsors for 21st annual Stock Market Challenge

More than 400 students will take part in the November 17 financial literacy competition

Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts (JAWM) is seeking business sponsors and volunteers for its 21st Annual JA Stock Market Challenge, a fast-paced Wall Street simulation that will give more than 400 area students the opportunity to put financial knowledge and real-world skills into action.

The event will be held Tuesday, November 17, at Rivers Memorial Hall at Western New England University. During the daytime competition, student teams will use investing, financial literacy, teamwork and decision-making skills as they compete in a simulated stock market. An evening competition will feature teams from JAWM’s corporate and collegiate partners.

“Students are preparing for a future that is changing quickly as technology reshapes the workplace and career paths continue to evolve,” said Amie Miarecki, president of Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts. “The Stock Market Challenge gives students a chance to learn by doing while building the confidence and skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. With support from local businesses and volunteers, we can help ensure students are prepared for what comes next.”

Current sponsors include St. Germain Investment Management as Presenting Sponsor and Elms College as Education Sponsor. Balise Automotive Group is the Trade Sponsor and Baystate Health and Health New England are Transportation Sponsors. M&T Bank is a Portfolio Sponsor and Country Bank and Western New England University are Gold Sponsors.

Businesses can support the event through sponsorship opportunities or volunteer during the student or evening corporate competition.
